When Your Computer is in the Shop…
Posted on July 29, 2010 · Leave a CommentI usually head on over to Watkins Station’s fully-equipped business center with Internet connections. Personally I’m very attached to our online world and a few days ago when my computers finally decided to leave this world (5 years old) I was completely lost.
Not being able to update my status or tweet about my dilemma I wasn’t sure what do to next. Then I remembered that Watkins Station offers us a great amenities. The business center came in handy because I was able to look up a computer repair store close to town. Of course after setting up my appointment I vigorously tweeted about it.
Using Slip Covers!
Posted on July 22, 2010 · Leave a CommentWhen I first moved into an apartment I had second-hand sofas. When I first got them I knew they needed a face lift. First I vacuumed them, then I scrubbed them and they still didn’t look their best. Hey I guess you can’t “fix/help” a floral print.
Knowing I couldn’t replace my sofas I had to find a different alternative. Slip covers. This way I didn’t spend too much money and I still had the choice of what I wanted. If your sofas need a face lift, try a slip cover!
Slip covers are very easy to use and they come in so many options! You can choose the material, the print, and the color!

How do you freshen up your apartment?
Posted on July 13, 2010 · Leave a CommentHow do you keep your apartment fresh? Do you use candles, scented room sprays, reed diffusers or scented plug-ins? Personally I will always use the traditional candle. I love the glow and “warmth” a candle gives off, it’s my favorite. Vote on our poll and let us know what you think. Don’t see what you use on the list? Comment on the blog and let us know!

Looking for something to do this weekend residents of Watkins Station? Well we’ve got plans for you! Tomorrow night and Saturday night (July 9-10) at 8:00 p.m. you have the opportunity to sit out under the stars and watch Shakespeare’s Tragic Love s Story, “Romeo and Juliet.” This event is free to everyone, all you have to bring is yourself and a blanket to sit on at the City Hall Concert Pavilion.
Before the show on Friday you can be entertained with crafts, art and flea market vendors at the Market in Olde Towne. This event is held every Friday through Sept. 3, 2010. If it rains, the rescheduled date is Sunday July 11 at 4:00 p.m.
I was always attracted to the story of Romeo and Juliet and when I think of it now so many movies, books and plays have been modeled after this great story. It’s truly a great tale to tell.
For more information please call 301-258-6350 or email parksrec@gaithersburgmd.gov

Firecracker Gaithersburg!
Posted on June 30, 2010 · 1 CommentIt’s a party time! The city of Gaithersburg is prepping for the 4th of July celebration this weekend. 97.1 and Montgomery County Agricultural Center is putting on the best fireworks show at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds.
Spend a day and enjoy an evening filled with music and patriotic fireworks! Gather your picnic supplies and blanket for the party. On Independence Day, you’ll enjoy a 2 hour concert with the band, Appaloosa followed by a fireworks display!
If we get rain on Sunday, the show will be postponed to July 5th. The park opens at 5 PM and the Mayor will give a speech at 8 PM. Fireworks will launch at dusk.
Are you going to watch the fireworks?
Protection is the Best!
Posted on June 25, 2010 · 1 CommentThe iPhone 4 was released to the public yesterday. Lines were crazy. Reviews were posted on the reception and yellow grainy parts. But on top of all that cases were released.
With the new iPhone 4 design, several cases were released. iFrogz is my favorite case design and you can purchase it at Best Buy for $29.99 in several colors: grey, pink, black/blue, green, and red/black. The case covers the entire back of the phone to avoid scratches and it has a softer and chic look.
Other places to look if you want to save money are on Amazon.com or try iPhone 4 Cases.
Second Chance Wildlife Center
Posted on June 22, 2010 · Leave a CommentSometimes animals in the wild get hurt. But where do they go? The Second Chance Wildlife Center is the place, but it’s a historic location in Gaithersburg.
It gives animals a chance to live in their environment with fields, woods, a marsh, and a stream. Some of the animals that come in are ill songbirds, raptors, waterfowl, squirrels, groundhogs, chipmunks, bats, rabbits, turtles, and other species. This facility rehabilitates animals with rabies and can perform surgery if need be.
Second Chance lets you volunteer to help out the animals, but you need attend a session before that happens. You can also donate money to help the facility (it’s a 501(c) organization). The average cost to help an animal is $44.00. Are you willing to make a difference?
It’s Time to Roll!
Posted on June 18, 2010 · Leave a CommentIn case you missed the memo, today is International Sushi Day! I didn’t become a sushi lover until 2 years ago. The thought of raw fish really freaked me out, but I eased my way into it because my friends loved it. Now, I’m addicted and it’s safe to say I eat it once a week.
I always enjoy dollar sushi days and trying new speciality rolls. Anything with avocados I’ll try… ahh sushi! Where’s your favorite sushi spot in the Gaithersburg area?
- Yoyogi Sushi
- Niwano Hana Japanese Restaurant
- Sabai Sabai Simply Thai
- Yuraku Japanese Restaurant
Happy International Sushi Day!
